Richard Holtmeyer

Richard Frank Holtmeyer, age 81, of Maryland Heights, Mo., died Monday, January 25, 2016, at St. John Mercy Hospital. He was born February 28, 1934 in St. Elizabeth Missouri to the late Theodore and Catherine Franken Holtmeyer. He married the love of his life, Norma Jean Hake on May 14, 1960. They were blessed with 55 years of marriage. He is the dear father of Douglas Holtmeyer and Rhonda Anderson, both of St. Louis. Dear grandfather of Megan, Jacob, and Elexis Holtmeyer, Brenden Anderson and Aaron Byington and great-grandfather of Nathan Romero Holtmeyer. Dear brother of Theodore "T.J." Holtmeyer of Gravois Mills, Mo., Annabell Schutzler and Henrietta Schaffer of Jefferson City, Mo. and the late Frederick, Winfred and Edward Holtmeyer of Kansas City, Mo. and Delores Darveaux of Omaha, Neb. He worked at Cupples Manufacturing in Overland, Mo. and retired after 37 years. He served in the U.S. Army from January 7, 1955 to December 7, 1957. Richard and Norma Jean had a country place in Labadie, MO for over 40 years. They spent every weekend there planting their garden, canning, and maintaining the property. He loved any activity that kept him busy in the outdoors. They recently sold their country place but Richard continued his outdoor activities, including a small garden at their home in Maryland Heights. He also loved spending time with his children, grandchildren, and a new great-grandchild. He deeply loved them all and made that affection known to all. Richard was a deeply religious man and practiced his Catholic faith at All Souls Catholic Church in Overland, and most recently at Holy Spirit Catholic Church in Maryland Heights. Visitation will be followed immediately by a Mass officiated by Father Bockskopf. The Interment will be held privately at Jefferson Barracks.
