Mr. Edward M. (Bud) Kissinger, 82, of Jefferson City, died Thursday, January 14, 2016, at his home with his daughter and little dog, Cee-lo, by his side. Ed was born December 1, 1933 in Kansas City, Kan., the son of James B. and M. Elizabeth Kissinger. He was married on August 18, 1957 in Belle, Mo., to Sharon D. Litton. The two were married for 55 years prior to her death in 2012. They raised two children, Beth Brown (Norman) and Steven (who preceded them in death). Ed graduated from high school in Richland, Mo. He received his AA degree from Southwest Baptist University, his BA degree from Drury University (Kappa Alpha Fraternity), and his Master's and Specialist's degrees from the University of Missouri. He was a U.S. Army veteran and a member of First Baptist Church where he was a deacon. Ed touched many lives as a high school teacher and basketball/baseball coach in several Missouri communities before moving to Jefferson City where he worked for several state agencies including the Department of Elementary and Secondary Education in the Chapter 1 Program. He was the Director for the Migrant Education Program for the State of Missouri. Before retiring from public school education, he was the director of the Regional Migrant Center in Malden. He also worked for the Missouri Department of Conservation in the Education Division where he was most proud of being the co-founder of the MO-Quail Academy for Missouri youth. Ed is also survived by a brother, David Kissinger of North Carolina; two grandchildren, Traci Howells (Pratt) and Joshua Kissinger; and two great-grandchildren with one on the way. Ed's passion was raising and training English Setters and hunting Bob-white Quail. He belonged to several conservation/wildlife preservation organizations and worked hard to preserve the habitat and population of the bird and other wildlife for the sport he loved. A private family service will be conducted at a future date. Those desiring may make memorial contributions to continue his conservation legacy to the Conservation Federation of Missouri, 728 W. Main Street, Jefferson City, MO 65101. Arrangements are under the care of Freeman Mortuary. www.freemanmortuary.com
