Harriet Lee Waldo

Harriet Lee Waldo, age 83, of Jefferson City and Camarillo, California, passed away Sunday, January 10, 2016. The Heavens are alive with the sound of music for Harriet, who entered therein. After a year of suffering from the injuries sustained in an auto accident and the relentless ravages of Alzheimer's Disease, she is finally at peace. Harriet was born in St. Louis on September 8, 1932, and enjoyed her childhood in Jefferson City, Missouri where she graduated from high school in 1950. After graduation from Central College (now Central Methodist University) in 1954, Harriet took positions with Girl Scouts of the USA, first in Dubuque, Iowa and then in Sedalia, Missouri. After retiring from the Girl Scouts, Harriet had a career in real estate in both Jefferson City and Rocky Mount, Missouri. She built a home on the Lake of the Ozarks where she was active in many community activities, including serving as a volunteer firefighter. Harriet eventually returned to Jefferson City where again she was active in community services. She loved to pound nails and supervise for local Habitat for Humanity projects. As her illness progressed, Harriet relocated to California to be near her brother and his family. Harriet was preceded in death by her parents, Milton S. and Laura Margaret (Peg) Waldo; her cousin, Reuss Ann Bergman and her husband Bernie; and her cousin, Anita Waldo Drew and her husband, Harry. Harriet is survived by her brother, Robert (Bob) Waldo and his wife, Mary Alice; niece, Camie Meinster (Darrin) and their children, Tanner and Dylan; niece, Stephanie Yates (Daniel) and their children, Luke, Madison, Kylie, and Jake; two nephews, James Waldo and Jason Waldo; cousin, Ettus Hiatt (Bud), and their family; cousin, Dorothy Waldo Kostecki (Jim) and their family; cousin, Diane Waldo Grubic (Walter) and their family; and the families of Reuss Ann and Bernie Bergman, and Anita and Harry Drew. There are no local services planned. Donations may be made in Harriet's name to the Alzheimer's Association, the National Breast Cancer Foundation, or a charity of your choice.
