Cecilia Ann Brand

Cecilia Ann (Otto) Brand, age 87, of St. Anthony, passed away on Sunday, February 14, 2016, peacefully with family by her side at Miller County Care and Rehabilitation Center in Tuscumbia. She was born in St. Anthony on September 26, 1928, daughter of the late Michael and Martha (Rehagen) Otto. On June 14, 1947, in Taos, Cecilia married Louis Herman Brand, who preceded her in death on March 15, 1996. Cecilia had one of the most rewarding professions in life and that was being a caring homemaker for her family. She loved spending quality time with her family and friends. She enjoyed playing dominoes, sewing, quilting, and tending to her garden. Cecilia was a member of St. Anthony Senior Citizens Club, St. Anthony Ladies Auxiliary, and St. Anthony of Padua Catholic Church. She is survived by three sons, Stanley Brand and wife Mary of St. Thomas, Bill Brand and wife Phyllis of St. Anthony, Gary Brand and wife Janice of St. Anthony; two daughters, Rosetta Holtmeyer and husband Bernard of St. Anthony, and Denise Wankum and husband Charles of St. Elizabeth; 15 grandchildren; 36 great-grandchildren; and three brothers, Elias Otto and wife Marilyn of Jefferson City, Fred Otto and wife Mary Ann of Eldon, and Charles Otto and wife Bea of St. Anthony. In addition to her husband Louis, she was also preceded in death by four brothers, Emil, Lawrence, Roman, and Victor Otto; three sisters, Regina Herx, Bernadine Groner, and Rose Werdehausen; and one granddaughter, Christina Brand. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10 a.m. on Friday, February 19, 2016, at St. Anthony of Padua Catholic Church in St. Anthony. Msgr. Marion Makarewicz will officiate. Interment will be in St. Anthony Cemetery. Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m., with a prayer service at 4 p.m., on Thursday, February 18, at St. Anthony of Padua Parish Hall. Memorial contributions are suggested to the St. Anthony Cemetery. Arrangements are under the direction of Fancher-Rekus Funeral Home in Iberia.
