Tracy Glidewell

Tracy Glidewell, 58, of Columbia, Mo., passed away Wednesday, February 10, 2016, at University Hospital, after a life full of laughter and a hard-fought battle against renal failure. She was surrounded by her loving family. Tracy was a free spirit who never met a stranger, with an easy smile and an infectious laugh. Tracy was born into a family of girls in Jefferson City, Mo., on February 13, 1957, the daughter of Mel-Ray Motors owners, Ray and Marjorie (Gibson) Bishop. After giving the phrase "wild child" a whole new meaning as a teen, she met the love of her life, Rod Glidewell, and the two were married on a hot and sunny August 31, 1980. Tracy and Rod spent the next 36 years loving each other, loving family, traveling, and building Glidewell Construction, always together. She was known for her loving ways and fun-loving attitude, and for the ability to laugh in any situation, whether she was enjoying a beautiful day at the lake or cooped up in a hospital room. She enjoyed gardening, her dogs, cooking and spending time at her lake cabin. Tracy will always be lovingly remembered by Rod, as well as her three sisters, Cindi (Mark) Johnson of Holts Summit, Mo., Kristy (Donny) McGonigal of Holts Summit, Mo. and Julie (Chris) Bishop-Cross of St. Louis, Mo.; her niece, Michelle Thorpe and numerous other nieces and nephews; and Rod's mother, six brothers, and their families. She was also preceded in death by one son, Cory Glidewell; a sister, Kelli Ann Bishop; both of her parents; and her father-in-law, Dale Glidewell. Visitation will be held at Memorial Funeral Home on Tuesday, February 16 from 10:00 - 11:00 a.m., with funeral services at 11:00 a.m. at the funeral home. Interment will be in Riverside Cemetery in Jefferson City, Mo. Family and friends are invited for one last party at 2:00 p.m. at Capitol Event Center, 623 Ohio Street in Jefferson City.
