Ellen A. Hunter

Mrs. Ellen A. Hunter, age 89 years, of Holts Summit, Mo., passed away Friday, February 5, 2016, at Jefferson City Manor Care Center. Ellen was born on December 7, 1926 in Jefferson City, Mo., a daughter of Abol and Ethel (Gray) Khan. She was married on February 14, 1948 in Jefferson City, Mo. to David Kenneth Hunter, who preceded her in death on March 24, 2004. A lifelong resident of the Jefferson City area, Ellen was a 1944 graduate of Jefferson City High School. Ellen was a homemaker for the majority of her life and cherished time with her family. She was a member of First United Methodist Church and the B.P.O. Elks Lodge, #513; Meadow Lake Acres Country Club; USGA; and WIBC. She was also a board member of Meadow Lake Acres Country Club, captain of the Inter City Golf Team, member of the Missouri Women's Senior Golf Association, and chairman of Meadow Lake Acres Ladies Day. Ellen also enjoyed bowling and participated in Westgate Jill's, Swingster's and Lucky Ladies bowling leagues at Westgate Lanes. Ellen's main passion in life was golf and tried to play as often as possible with friends and family. She was active with many ladies groups and enjoyed playing on the ladies traveling team that represented Meadow Lake in tournaments. Ellen enjoyed traveling throughout the United States and many of her travels included golf. Survivors include: one daughter, Marsha Hunter Cave of New Bloomfield, Mo.; one son, Kent Hunter of Holts Summit, Mo.; one grandson, Cody Cave of New Bloomfield, Mo.; a niece, Carol Ann True of Irvine, Calif.; a nephew, Stewart M. Hunter (wife Vernolia) of Jefferson City, Mo.; and several other nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; her loving husband of 56 years, David Hunter; and one sister, Rosemary Bradford. Visitation will be held at Freeman Mortuary from 4:00 p.m. until 6:00 p.m., Friday, February 12, 2016. A Celebration of Ellen's Life will be conducted at 6:00 p.m., Friday, February 12, 2016 in the Freeman Chapel.
