John A. Rice

John A. "Johnny" Rice, 71, of Eldon, Mo., formerly of Jefferson City, passed away Monday, December 26, 2016, at SSM Health St. Mary's Hospital in Jefferson City. He was born on November 18, 1945 in Jefferson City, Mo., the son of Leonard and Mary Pauline (Bradford) Rice, who preceded him in death. He worked as a professional bass player and played for artists such as Aretha Franklin and Joe Walsh. He also played in a local band, the Dalton Band. He drove a Harley Davidson motorcycle across the United States and loved spending the time in the wind. He was a traveler and loved spending time playing music anywhere he could. He is survived by two sisters: Lois Schott of the state of California and Bonnie Knoth of Eldon, Mo.; four cousins: Clint Griffin of Jefferson City, Brad Condra of Camdenton, David Condra of Rocky Mount, and Debbie Scott of the state of California. He was preceded in death by one sister: Mary Griffin, and one brother: Bill Rice. A Celebration of Life Service will be held at a later date.
