Edna Louise Scheperle, age 88, of Lohman, passed away Wednesday, December 28, 2016, at Capital Region Medical Center in Jefferson City. She was born December 19, 1928, in Lohman, a daughter of Frank K. and Anna Mathilda 'Tillie' Strobel Ott. Edna was baptized January 5, 1929 and confirmed April 18, 1943, at Trinity Lutheran Church in Russellville. The confirmation verse chosen was Col. 1:10 "Walk worthy of the Lord unto all pleasing, being fruitful in every good work, and increasing in the knowledge of God." On June 11, 1950, at the Trinity Lutheran Church in Russellville, Edna was united in marriage to Elwyn Scheperle, who survives at their home. She was a graduate of Russellville High School. Edna worked at Missouri Power and Light and Ameren Union Electric, retiring after 37 years of employment. She was an active and faithful member of St. John's Lutheran Church-Stringtown, where she served as Sunday school teacher, choir member and braille worker. Through the years Edna volunteered as a member and officer of the Women in Energy, served on the UE Political Action Committee, was a Jefferson City Chamber of Commerce Ambassador, served as the Cole County Historical Society secretary, and was on the Girl Scouts of America scholarship committee. In addition to her husband of 66 years, she is survived by a daughter and son-in-law, Susan and Mark Schenewerk, Roeland Park, Kansas; brothers and sisters-in-law, Ralph and Dorothy Scheperle; sister-in-law, Juanita Godsey of Jefferson City; nieces and nephews, Judith Woehrer Baysinger and husband Larry, Colin Woehrer and wife Ruthann, Walter Haberaecker II and wife Cindy, David Scheperle and wife Bonnie, Marsha Scheperle Propst and husband Jerry, and Dennis Scheperle; along with several great-nieces and nephews, other relatives and friends. Edna was preceded in death by her parents; two sisters, Viola Woehrer and Hulda Haberaecker; a brother-in-law, Cleo Scheperle; nieces, Linda Haberaecker, Brenda Scheperle, and Joicelyn Collier. Funeral services will be 2:00 p.m., Sunday, January 1, at St. John's Lutheran Church-Stringtown with Pastor Jacob Mueller officiating. Interment will be in the St. John's Lutheran Cemetery-Stringtown. The family will receive friends from 4:00-6:00 p.m., Saturday, December 31, at the Scrivner-Morrow Funeral Home in Russellville.
