Launa C. Rowden, 93, of Jefferson City, Mo., passed away on Sunday, August 14, 2016, at Heisinger Bluffs. She was born on March 3, 1923, in Maries County, Missouri. She is the daughter of Benjamin and Amanda Helton. She graduated high school in Vienna, Missouri. On September 2, 1945, Launa was united in marriage to Wilburn C. Rowden in St. Louis, Missouri. They were married for almost 71 years. She worked in secretarial jobs in St. Louis prior to her marriage and was a homemaker and mother to three children. She was also a teacher at Prosperity School in Maries Co. She was a member of Central United Church of Christ in Jefferson City, Mo. for more than 50 years. She enjoyed sewing, especially hand making her three daughters' clothes while growing up. She was a great cook, and enjoyed traveling with her husband and seeing the country. Launa is survived by her husband Wilburn C. Rowden and three daughters: Rebecca Frederickson, Sarah Miller (Paul) and Paula Medlin; three grandchildren, Kimberly Gose (Damien), Scott Weber (Alicia), and Hannah Gonzales; three great- grandchildren, Nicholas and Kayla Gonzales and Annalise Weber; and two step-grandchildren Aydan and Evin Henry. Friends will be received from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. Tuesday, August 16, 2016, at Houser-Millard Funeral Home. Funeral Services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Wednesday, August 17, 2016, at the Houser-Millard Funeral Home. Interment will follow at Hawthorn Memorial Gardens. Expressions of sympathy may be made to the Alzheimer Association or Central United Church of Christ.
