Jerry William Powell

Jerry William Powell, 74, of Jefferson City, passed away Saturday, August 13, 2016, at Jefferson City Manor Care Center. He was born August 27, 1941, in Kansas City, Kan., a son of the late Wayne Wesley and G. Lorraine (Willis) Powell. He was a graduate of Shawnee Mission East High School in Shawnee Mission, Kansas. On January 12, 1963, Jerry was united in marriage to Carole Ann Lindley, who survives at their home. Jerry was President of Shryack Hirst Grocery Company for 20 years. He was a member of Wesley United Methodist Church. He enjoyed playing golf and going fishing. Most of all, he loved to be with his family. Along with his wife Carole, Jerry is also survived by two sons, Michael P. Powell (Brenda) of Lake Ozark, Mo. and Donald K. Powell (Melissa) of Jefferson City, Mo.; one daughter, Sheri D. Kroll (David) of Jefferson City, Mo.; two sisters, Janet Fleener of Bloomington, Ind. and Debbie Berneking of Oak Grove, Mo.; and four grandchildren, Brett A. Rucker, Kelci N. Kroll, Maxwell J. Kroll and Lance T. Powell. He was also preceded in death by a brother, Jimmy Lee Powell. Friends will be received from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. Thursday, August 18, 2016, at the Houser-Millard Funeral Home. Celebration of Life services will be held at 7:00 p.m. Thursday, August 18, 2016, at the Houser-Millard Funeral Home, with Rev. Tom Vansant officiating.
