Gerald Lee "Jerry" Heislen, 73, of Jefferson City, passed away Saturday, April 9, 2016, at Golden Living Center surrounded by his loving family. He was born April 22, 1942, in Jefferson City, the son of Clarence Joseph and Erma Linda (Thessen) Heislen. Jerry served in the Missouri National Guard for several years. He was united in marriage on November 26, 1964, at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church to Sally Marie Remick who survives at the home. Jerry worked at Voss Market for his father Clarence, and uncle, Joe Kemna, eventually becoming co-owner and operator with his brother-in-law, Jim Brenneke. After his retirement from Voss Market in 1991, he worked for Missouri State Surplus property for over 10 years. He was a member of St. Peter Catholic Church, 4th Degree Member of Knights of Columbus Council #1054, and Fraternal Order of Eagle's Aerie 2693. Jerry coached baseball for his children and was a proud supporter of Helias Catholic High School. He played fast pitch softball, enjoyed bowling, fishing, trips to Canada with his brother-in-law, John, attending Classic Club trips and took great pride in his yard. He was an avid supporter of MU Sports and St. Louis Cardinals. Most of all, Jerry loved and cherished his family. He loved family BBQs and going out to the cabin. Any time spent with family was the time he enjoyed the most. Survivors include his wife, Sally Heislen, Jefferson City; his mother, Erma Heislen, Jefferson City; four children, Kevin (Jan) Heislen, Jefferson City; Jennifer (Steve) Wright, Jefferson City; Kyle (Cindy)Heislen, Jefferson City; Deric (Jamey) Heislen, Jefferson City; eight grandchildren, Taylor Heislen, Alex Heislen, Tate Heislen, Jordan Wright, Peyton Wright, Brady Wright, Drew Heislen, Carter Heislen; and three sisters, Darlene (Jim) Brenneke, Jefferson City; Kay (Dennis) Hood, Jefferson City; and Bev (Steve) Cearlock, Jefferson City. He is preceded in death by his father, Clarence Heislen. Visitation will be 4-7 p.m. Wednesday at Dulle-Trimble Funeral Home with a prayer service at 3 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial will be 10 a.m. Thursday, April 14, 2016, at St. Peter Catholic Church with the Rev. Dennis Meyer officiating. Entombment with military honors will be in Resurrection Mausoleum.
