Mrs. Dorothy Marie Rasp Kenney, age 95, of Jefferson City, Mo., passed away Monday, April 11, 2016, at St. Joseph's Bluff surrounded by her family. She was born on August 8, 1920, in St. Louis, Mo., a daughter of John and Blanche (Cornan) Rasp. She was married on October 25, 1941, in Jefferson City, Mo. to Warren B. Kenney, who preceded her in death in January 7, 1978. A lifelong resident of Jefferson City, Dorothy was a 1938 graduate of Jefferson City High School and was Homecoming Queen her senior year. After high school she attended Jefferson City Junior College. Dorothy was employed as a secretary with various agencies with the State of Missouri for over 15 years. She retired in the early 80's working as secretary for State Senator Robert Pentland. After her retirement she volunteered for many years with the Charles E. Still Hospital Gift Shop. She was a member of Community Christian Church and the American Business Woman's Association. Dorothy enjoyed traveling, planting flowers, and playing bridge with friends. She cherished time with her family and sewing keepsakes from them. Survivors include: three daughters, Sue Snell (husband Mark) of Holts Summit, Mo., Janice Griffin (husband Gary) of Jefferson City, Mo. and Debra Porth (husband Chuck) of Cape Corel, Florida; one brother, John Rasp Jr. of Illinois; seven grandchildren, Tim Snell (wife Lora), Trish Alexander (husband Kim), Matt Griffin (wife Karen), Jennifer Moss, Leslie Rangel (husband Nacho), Danielle Rangel (husband Raul), and Kevin Porth; seven great-grandchildren; and one great-great-granddaughter. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Warren; and one great-grandson, Brad Gilman. Visitation will be held at Freeman Mortuary from 10:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, April 13, 2016. A funeral service will be conducted at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, April 13, 2016, in the Freeman Chapel with the Reverend Coletta Eichenberger officiating. Graveside services and interment will be held at Hawthorn Memorial Gardens. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions are suggested to Community Christian Church.
