Jeanne Anne Stokes, our beloved sister, age 53 years, a former Jefferson City resident, passed away peacefully on Saturday, April 2, 2016, in Rio Rancho, New Mexico, surrounded by her loving family. Jeannie was born in Jefferson City, Mo., the youngest child of Vincent and Louise Stokes, but spent the last 30 years living in Rio Rancho, New Mexico. She was dearly loved by all her family and friends-to know her was to love her! Her wonderful sense of humor, her big hugs and her beautiful smile endeared her too all who knew her. She loved her Special Olympics activities, cooking, dancing, playing cards, going out to eat and visiting with family and friends. She was always ready for travel and adventure. She loved cruises, camping, road trips and weekends at the casino playing the slot machines. Survivors include: her sister, Patricia Stokes; her brother, James Stokes and his wife Nancy; her brother, Stephen Stokes and his wife Patricia; her sister, Theresa Michael and her husband Tameru as well as nieces and nephews, Etsegenet, Kaye, Jana, Nathaniel, and David. Jeanne brought us joy and laughter, hugs and smiles, and witty comments that will continue to bring us smiles and tears as we remember her. Our precious sister will be missed and loved by us forever, but she has gone home and we look forward to being with her in eternity. Jeanne was preceded in death by her parents. Graveside services and interment will be conducted at 11:00 a.m. Friday, April 15, 2016, at Resurrection Cemetery. Because Jeanne loved and participated in Special Olympics, the family suggests that donations be made in lieu of flowers to Rio Rancho Special Olympics, care of Debbie Torres, 847 Chuckwagon Road SE, Rio Rancho, New Mexico 87124. Funeral arrangements are under the direction of Freeman Mortuary. www.freemanmortuary.com
