Adam Curtis Ortbals, 33 of Taos, died Wednesday, April 6, 2016, at his home. He was born June 17, 1982, in Jefferson City, son Phillip J. and Carol A. (Borgmeyer) Ortbals. On September 1, 2007, he was united in marriage to Katie Mormann at St. Francis Xavier Church in Taos, she survives at the home. Adam graduated in 2000 from Blair Oaks High School in Wardsville and graduated from Linn State Technical College of Missouri in Linn. He worked for Riley Chevrolet from 2001 to 2006 and for Vanloo Service Center from 2006 to present. Adam was an avid mechanic and enjoyed spending time outdoors, riding four-wheelers, camping and hot summer days on the Osage River. He loved being with his friends and family, especially his two children. He is survived by his wife, Katie and two children: Cole and Lydia Ortbals of Taos; his father: Phillip Ortbals of Taos; two brothers: Matthew (Crista) Ortbals of St. Louis and Jason Ortbals of Columbia; paternal grandmother: Shirley Ortbals; two brothers-in-law and two sisters-in-law; nephews: Xander Ortbals, Noah Mormann, August Mormann; niece: Natalie Mormann, and numerous aunts, uncles, cousins and friends. He was preceded in death by his mother: Carol Ann Ortbals; paternal grandfather: Webster "Buddy" Ortbals; maternal grandparents: Ray and Marie Borgmeyer; aunt: Laurale Borgmeyer; two cousins: Sarah Borgmeyer and Josh Ortbals and two nephews: Trevor Ortbals and Everett Ortbals. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Monday, April 11, 2016, at St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church, with Father Wayne Boyer and Father Ignazio C. Medina officiating. Family would like to invite everyone to join them following the mass for a luncheon and visitation at the Knights of Columbus Hall in Taos. Expressions of Sympathy may be made to the education fund for his children, Cole and Lydia; Wells Fargo Advisors, FBO Ortbals Memorial Fund.
