Vicki Suzanne York-Fred

Vicki Suzanne York-Fred, 52, of Hallsville, passed away Sunday, September 27, 2015, at her home, with her husband Dennis and the family who loved her so much in her presence. She fought a brave and courageous battle with liver cancer. She was born February 3, 1963, in Sikeston to Don and Marilyn York. She was a 1981 graduate of Jefferson City High School. On September 5, 1981, she was married to Dennis Fred of Hallsville, Mo. She was an avid gardener and loved to make jams and jellies from her own strawberry patch and blackberry vines. She also loved to sew, especially baby quilts, and crochet baby blankets for family and friends. She was employed 29.5 years at Boone County Joint Communications, beginning as a 911 operator and achieving a supervisory position and trainer of new employees. She was awarded many commendations for her achievements over the years. Her fellow employees loved her dearly. She gave her heart to Jesus as a little girl, eight years of age. Suzanne had an outgoing, "sunshiny," personality and made a friend of whoever she met. She will be deeply missed by all who knew her. She is survived by her husband, Dennis; her mother, Marilyn Monks, of Jefferson City, Mo.; her father, Don York (Patty), of Kearney, Mo.; brothers, Scott (Anita), of Raytown, Mo., Steve (Cindy), of Holts Summit, Mo., Shawn (Michelle), of Jefferson City, Mo.; seven nieces; two nephews; and her beloved pets, Chancey, Max, and Pico; many aunts and uncles who loved her dearly. Visitation for her will be 5-8 p.m., Friday, October 2, 2015, at Memorial Funeral Home, 1217 Business Loop 70 W., Columbia MO 65202. A memorial service will be at 11 a.m., Saturday, October 3, 2015, also at Memorial Funeral Home in Columbia.
