Larry John Murphy

Larry John Murphy, 70, of New Bloomfield, passed away on Sunday, September 20, 2015, at his home. He was born on February 16, 1945 in St. Louis, the son of the late John Murphy and the late Margaret (Rother) Murphy. On April 4, 1964, he was united in marriage to Sharon (Wagers) Murphy. She survives his passing. Larry was a master-craftsman and could build anything. He owned Larry Murphy Construction and specialized in houses and cabinetry. In his spare time, he enjoyed hunting, fishing, dancing, and was always up for a fish fry and spending time with his friends at deer camp. Larry held the North American Bow Hunting Big Game Record for a 20 point non-typical white tail deer from 1988 until 1996. He was a member of Pope and Young Club. The time spent with his family, grandchildren and friends brought him great joy. Along with his wife, Larry is survived by son, Darren Murphy (Heather) of Mokane; daughters, Denise Murphy-Cantrell of Jefferson City, and Donna Murphy-Wilbers (Craig) of New Bloomfield; brother, Charles Murphy (Terri) of Fulton; sisters, Mary Spencer (Frank) of St. Charles, and Pat Grimm (Donnie) of Fulton; grandchildren, Ashton Jones (Jeremy), Lacey Scheulen, Dylan Wilbers, Layken Wilbers, Colten Gliser-Murphy, Rafe Murphy, Harper Murphy, and Paisley Murphy; great- grandchildren, Graham Scheulen and Annalynn Jones; and multiple nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; son, Lawrence Matthew Murphy; and brother, David Murphy. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Friday, September 25, 2015 at Maupin Funeral Home in Fulton with Father Frank Bussmann officiating. The family will receive friends from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. on Thursday, September 24, 2015 at the Funeral Home. Interment will be in Callaway Memorial Gardens.
