Carol Ann Long

Carol Ann Long, 47, of New Bloomfield, entered Heaven on Sunday, September 20, 2015, at her home, surrounded by her family. She was born February 2, 1968, in Bonner Springs, Kansas, a daughter of Jerry M. and Doris D. (Jenkins) Burks. She attended New Bloomfield High School in New Bloomfield, Missouri. Carol worked for Professional Phone Shop for 15 years, and had previously worked for Little Flowers Day Care, and the YMCA in child care. She was a member of Union Hill Baptist Church in Holts Summit, Missouri. Carol enjoyed cooking, baking, sewing, crafts, and collecting carousels. Most of all, she loved spending time with her family and friends. Carol is survived by a son: Michael W. Matteson of Jefferson City; a daughter: Brittany M. Long of New Bloomfield; her significant other: Tate (Ron) Caldwell and son Lane Caldwell of New Bloomfield; her mother: Doris D. Burks of New Bloomfield; two sisters: Marilyn Colter of Holts Summit, Linda Burks of New Bloomfield; one brother: Jeffery Burks of New Bloomfield; three nieces: Heather Murphy (Brian and children), Courtney Colter (AvantÈ), Carleigh Burks; and one nephew: Jacob Burks. She was preceded in death by her father: Jerry M. Burks. Friends will be received from 9:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. Friday, September 25, 2015, at Union Hill Baptist Church in Holts Summit. Funeral services will follow at 11:00 a.m. Friday, September 25, 2015, at Union Hill Baptist Church, with Bro. E. Frank Whitney officiating. Interment will follow at Riverview Cemetery in Jefferson City. Expressions of sympathy may be made to the Carol Long Memorial Fund.
