Freddie Otto Jacobs, 83, of Jefferson City, passed away on Friday, September 18, 2015, at his home. He was born October 3, 1931, in Jefferson City, a son of Elder C and Ottillie (Hirschman) Jacobs, both of whom preceded him in death. On September 11, 1955, at Etterville Christian Church, he was united in marriage to Betty M. Deffenbaugh, who survives of the home. A lifelong resident of the Jefferson City area, Freddie attended grade school at Pleasant Valley and Immanuel Lutheran School at Honey Creek. He was a 1949 graduate of Jefferson City High School. He proudly served his country in the United States Army during the Korean War from July 1952 until June 1954. He was a lifelong member of Immanuel Lutheran Church. He was a charter member of the Brazito Honey Creek Lion's Club, the American Legion Roscoe Enloe Post #5, the Capital City Wings RV Club and Teamsters Local 833. Freddie was a lifetime farmer. He also worked for the Missouri Conservation Commission, McGraw Edison Company, REA Express and was a truck driver for Beaufort Transfer Company for 22 years before he retired on October 30, 1992. Freddie enjoyed farming, going to the casino, camping, spending time with his grandchildren and especially his great grandchildren. He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Betty, of the home; his children: Susan Holzbierlein of Koeltztown; Randy Jacobs; Diane Mormann; Kathy Heimericks and husband Randy, all of Jefferson City; Rick Jacobs of Bush, Louisiana; and Carol Berhorst and husband Leon of Westphalia; grandchildren: Cynthia Holzbierlein; Josh (Laura) Jacobs; Jessie (J.R.) Onstott; Kari and Cody and Kaylie Heimericks; Nikki (Buddy) Ahart; Joe Mormann; Aubry, Dylan and Shayne Berhorst of Westphalia; step-grandchildren: Chris (Lauri) Fry; Brooke (Anthony) Maggiore, all of the state of Louisiana; great-grandchildren; Owen; Blake and Perry Jacobs; Kale, Connor and Kora Onstott; Austin, Kaden and Cooper Browner, Eli and MaeLee Ahart; Luke Fry and a little Maggiore due in December. Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by one sister, Helen Fischer; one sister-in-law: Doris Milburn and one son-in-law: Roger Mormann. The family will receive friends from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. on Monday, September 21, 2015, at Houser-Millard Funeral Directors. Additional visitation will be held on Tuesday, September 22, 2015, from 9:00 a.m. to 10:00 a.m. at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Honey Creek. Funeral services will immediately follow at Immanuel Lutheran Church with Pastor Jeff Schanbacher officiating. Burial with full military honors will be in Immanuel Lutheran Cemetery in Honey Creek. In lieu of flowers, expressions of sympathy may be made to Immanuel Lutheran School in Honey Creek.
