Charles Edward Waibel

Charles Edward "Chuck" Waibel, 77, of Jefferson City, passed away Sunday, November 22, 2015, at University Hospital in Columbia, Mo. He was born September 11, 1938, in New Kensington, Penn., the son of the late Elmer and Beulah (Hunter) Waibel. On August 12, 1961, he was united in marriage in Boonville, Mo., to Lois Ann Sanders. He was a 1957 graduate of the Laura Speed Elliott High School in Boonville, Mo. In May of 1961, he graduated from Northeast Missouri State Teachers College (now Truman State University) in Kirksville, Mo., with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Education. He did graduate work at the University of Missouri-Kansas City and at the University of Missouri-Columbia. He was a member of the Missouri National Guard for eight years. He began his teaching career in Salisbury, Mo., at the Salisbury High School as an Industrial Arts teacher for four years. He then was employed for 27 years by the Missouri State Department of Elementary and Secondary Education in Jefferson City. He retired from that agency as the Director of Industrial Education. He was a member of several state and national vocational and industrial education associations. After retiring, he worked for a number of years as a courtesy van driver for McKay Buick. Survivors include: his wife of 54 years, Lois, of the home; one daughter, Cindy Heislen and her husband Kyle, Jefferson City; and his mother-in-law, Mary Howell Sanders, Jefferson City. He was preceded in death by: his parents; father-in-law, John F. Sanders; and brother-in-law, Steven A. Sanders, both of Jacksonville, Fla. Visitation will be 4-7 p.m., Tuesday, November 24, 2015, at Dulle-Trimble Funeral Home in Jefferson City. Graveside service with military honors will be 11 a.m., Wednesday, November 25, 2015, at Walnut Grove Cemetery in Boonville, Mo. Memorials are suggested to the Chuck Waibel family to be used to purchase a bench at County Park where Chuck enjoyed to visit. Dulle-Trimble Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
