Mrs. Mary M. Griffin, age 82 years, of Jefferson City, Mo., died Saturday, May 23, 2015, at Oak Tree Villas surrounded by her family. Mary was born August 22, 1932, in Jefferson City, Mo., a daughter of Leonard M. and Mary P. Bradford Rice. She was married on February 9, 1952, in Jefferson City, Mo., to Robert "Bob" Griffin. A lifelong resident of the Jefferson City area, Mary was a 1951 graduate of Jefferson City High School. Mary was employed by the State of Missouri for a total of 35 years, first with the Missouri Division of Employment Security and later with the Missouri State Highway Patrol. For 25 of those years, she was an Administrative Assistant with the Missouri House of Representatives until her retirement in 1987. She enjoyed reading, cruising, playing bridge and having lunch with the Ya-Ya Girls. Most importantly, she loved spending time with her family. Survivors include: her husband of 63 years, Bob Griffin; one son, Clinton Griffin and his wife Kathy of Jefferson City, Mo.; two sisters, Lois Schott of Kansas City, Mo. and Bonnie Knoth of Eldon, Mo.; one brother, John Rice of Jefferson City, Mo.; and two grandchildren, Aaron Griffin of Frisco, Texas and Paige Griffin of Jefferson City, Mo. She was preceded in death by her parents and one brother, Bill Rice. Visitation will be at Freeman Mortuary from 10:00 until 11:30 a.m., Wednesday, May 27, 2015. Funeral services will be conducted at 11:30 a.m., Wednesday, May 27, 2015, in the Freeman Chapel with the Reverend Bart Larson officiating. Entombment will be in the Mausoleum of Riverview Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions are suggested to the Samaritan Center, St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, or the Patriot Guard Riders.
