Anne Bryan Broderick

Anne Bryan Broderick, age 70, of Ludington, Michigan, formerly of Jefferson City, passed away on April 24, 2015, at Spectrum Health Ludington Hospital. Anne was born on May 22, 1944, in St. Louis, Missouri, to the late John K. and Alice M. (Bradish) Broderick. Anne graduated from Mary Institute in St. Louis, Missouri. She then attended Northwestern University for two years before transferring to Washington University in St. Louis. She received a double major and a double minor. A byproduct of one of her minors was a fabulous archeological trip with Professor George Mylonas, which duplicated Odysseus' journey. She also served as a French translator in a Vietnamese refugee camp. After college Anne worked for several federal agencies (Health Education and Welfare [HEW], Dept. of Labor, and the Social Security Administration). Ten years of her career was spent traveling and developing job training programs. In 2004, Anne retired from the Social Security Administration after 20 years of dedicated service. She moved to Ludington, Michigan, where she enjoyed being a beach bum. Anne loved traveling and history. She had a passion for her many collections, especially her tea pots and Beanie Babies, and greatly enjoyed time spent on the study of genealogy. However, she found any busy day could be made better when she found the time to enjoy watching the sun set over Lake Michigan. Most of all Anne had the biggest heart that enveloped all of her family and friends. She was a dedicated friend to the Lake Shore Animal Shelter, where she fostered many animals. Anne was also a proud member of the Sterling Chapter of American Business Women's Association. Anne is survived by her brother, Bryan (Barbara) Broderick; niece, Dawn Broderick; nephew, Sean Broderick; sister-in-law, Carol Broderick; and many dear friends. She was preceded in death by her parents and brother, John Watson Broderick. Memorial contributions can be sent to the Sterling Chapter of American Business Women's Association, Anne Broderick Scholarship Fund, 415 Belair Drive, Jefferson City MO 65109. Friends and family are invited to celebrate the life of Anne Broderick from 4-6 p.m., Friday May 29, at Canterbury Hill Winery. Arrangements are under the direction of Houser-Millard Funeral Directors, 2613 West Main Street, Jefferson City, MO 65109. (573) 636-3838. www.millardfamilychapels.com
