William Wayne Woolley

William "Bill" Wayne Woolley, 82, of Jefferson City passed away Wednesday, May 13, 2015, at Summit Villa Nursing Center in Holts Summit. He was born on February 28, 1933, in Barnett, Mo., the son of Joseph L. and Lula (Pearon) Woolley, who preceded him in death. He was united in marriage in Rocky Mount, Mo., in June, 1963 to Marguerite Renfrow, who preceded him in death in 1994. He was a graduate of School of the Osage and then proudly served our country in the United States Army from April 15, 1953 to March 30, 1955. After which he served in the United States Army Reserves for six years. During his service in the military, he received the following honors: Korean Service Medal, United Nations Service Medal, National Defense Medal and the Good Conduct Medal. Bill retired from Western Electric after 25 years and then went to work for the Missouri Department of Corrections at the Missouri State Penitentiary and retired after 20 years as a Corrections Officer. He enjoyed playing Pinochle and Mahjong. He liked to go fishing, play on bowling leagues and gardening. He enjoyed going to Dunkin Doughnuts and McDonald's to drink coffee with his buddies and was an avid Cardinal's Baseball and Mizzou Basketball Fan. In his later years he would watch them on TV and listen to the games on the radio. Most of all, he was a family man. He loved his family, enjoying each moment he spent with them and was always ready to go out to eat with them. Bill is survived by: two daughters, Kathleen Green of St. Martins and Eve Stafford of Jefferson City; one son, Brian Woolley of Rolla; five grandchildren, Natalie (Jason Penserum) Mendez of Jefferson City, Lisa (Calvin) Stock of Jefferson City, Krystal Woolley of Jefferson City, Madison Woolley of Rolla and Grant Woolley of Colorado Springs, Colo.; four great-grandchildren, Hailey Stock, Shawn Stock, Eva-Rose Penserum and Lena Penserum; and many special nieces and nephews. He was also preceded in death by: two sisters, Delores Halfaday and Eva Dale Mitchell; one brother, Donald Woolley and one son, Clifford Green. Family will receive friends from 4:00 p.m.-7:00 p.m. on Friday, May 15, 2015, at Houser-Millard Funeral Chapel. Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, May 16, 2015, at Houser-Millard Funeral Chapel with Rev. Steve Jones officiating. Interment with full military honors will follow at Hawthorn Memorial Gardens in Jefferson City. In Lieu of Flowers, expressions of sympathy may be made to SSM Healthcare Hospice.
