Ted R. Zumwalt, 66, of Jefferson City, passed away Friday, February 27, 2015, at his home. He was born on December 22, 1948, in Jefferson City, Missouri, the son of Wilford H. and Beulah (Schepker) Zumwalt. He attended grade school at St. Peter Catholic School and graduated from Jefferson City High School. He worked for Capitol Security and Ramada Inn; he recently worked at his nephew's bar, Jamey's Private Lounge. Ted was a past member of the Fraternal Order of Eagles, Cole County Volunteer Fire Department and St. Peter Catholic Church. He loved to camp and was known to enjoy a great "Bonfire" any time of the year. Family and good friends were an important part of his life. He is survived by two brothers: Gary (Alberta) Zumwalt of Lohman, Bill (Faye) Zumwalt of Jefferson City; four sisters: Donna (Darrell) Schubert of Lohman, Phyllis (George) Faherty of Jefferson City, Joanie (Larry) Forck of Jefferson City, Debbie (Randy) Potts of Lohman; one brother-in-law: Vince Distler of Taos; one sister-in-law: Terry Zumwalt of Lohman and 22 nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; brother: Dennie Zumwalt;, sister: Pat Distler and one infant son: Rodney W. Zumwalt who died on November 28, 1973. Family will receive friends from 4:00 p.m.-7:00 p.m. on Tuesday, March 3, 2015, at Houser-Millard Funeral Chapel. Funeral Services will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Wednesday, March 4, 2015, at Houser-Millard Funeral Chapel with Fr. Greg Meystrik officiating. Interment will follow at Resurrection Cemetery. Ted suffered from Polio as a child, so the family would like for expressions of sympathy to be made to the March of Dimes, which was a blessing at the time.
