Robert A. Linsenbardt

Dr. Robert A. Linsenbardt, age 85, of Sedalia, died Friday, February 27, 2015, at the Missouri Veterans Home in St. James. Robert was born on December 16, 1929, in Russellville, the eldest son of the late Henry and Freda Raithel Linsenbardt. He graduated from Russellville High School in 1948 and served in the U. S. Air Force as a staff sergeant during the Korean War. On June 2, 1956, in Jefferson City, he married Irma (Mitzi) Schnieders, who survives at the home. In 1961, he completed his Doctor of Veterinary Medicine degree from University of Missouri and established the Sedalia Veterinary Center with his partners, Dr. C. W. Monsees and Dr. D. C. Payne. Robert retired from the practice in 1993. Robert, (Doc), enjoyed sports and for years coached and played fast-pitch softball. He was later inducted into the Central Missouri Softball Hall of Fame. He also enjoyed golf, hunting and fishing. As a hobbyist, he was known for creating custom-made fishing rods and golf club sets. As a licensed pilot, he loved to fly his Cessna 170 plane. After his retirement he was an avid wood worker, gardener and golfer. Robert was a faithful member of Sacred Heart Church, serving on the Parish Council, as well as Eucharistic minister and usher. For over 30 years he was on the Central Missouri Bank Board of Directors. He was also a member of AVMA, MVMA, MU Alumni and Sedalia Elks Lodge 125. Robert's pride and joy was his large family. Survivors include his five daughters and four sons: Nancy (Craig) Chettle, Parkville; Karen (Philip) Chancellor, Eureka; Janice (Richard) Hargrave, Sedalia; Scott (Marci, fiancÈe), Sedalia; Daniel (Penny) Sedalia; John (Roxanna), Fenton; Patrick (Kathy) Chesterfield; Kristy (Thad) Henderson, Warsaw; and Suzanne (Kevin) Almquist, Omaha, Neb. He also had 26 grandchildren: Dakota, Sage, Jesse, Levi, David, Daniel, Andrea, Jennifer, Andrew, Rachel, James, Philip, Nathan, Joseph, Amy, Danelle, Drew, Sydney, Nicole, Kelsey, Thane, Brayden, Jude, Josie, Grant and Liam; and two great-grandchildren: Kayleigh and Zaden. He is survived by his four siblings: Leroy (Gladys) Linsenbardt, Laverne Popp, Dr. David (Mary Kay) Linsenbardt and Glenn (Sharon) Linsenbardt. He is also survived by in-laws: Madalyn (Norm) Doering, Jack (Shirley) Schnieders, Helen (Harry) Cook, Don (Ruth Ann) Schnieders and Shirley Andrews. He was preceded in death by in-laws: Edgar Schnieders, Chuck Hooker, Stan and Betty Schnieders, Sister Evelyn Schnieders, O.F.M., Don Andrews and Lawrence Popp. Mass of Christian Burial will be at 11:30 a.m. on Wednesday, March 4 at Sacred Heart Church, 314 S. Moniteau, Sedalia, with Father Mark Miller officiating. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery. Rosary will begin at 9:30 a.m. with visitation to follow until service time at the church. Grandchildren will act as pallbearers. In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts are suggested to Sacred Heart Church or the charity of your choice in care of McLaughlin Funeral Chapel.
