James "Jim" Michael McCoy, 52, of Jefferson City, passed away Sunday, March 1, 2015, at Capital Region Medical Center. He was born February 22, 1963, in Misawa, Japan, a son of Warren William and Mary Kathryn (Lohmeyer) McCoy. He was a graduate of St. John's Seminary in Kansas City, Mo., and went on to earn his Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of Missouri-Kansas City and then earned his JD from the University of Missouri Law School in Columbia, Mo. Jim was united in marriage in Jefferson City, on February 8, 2014, to Jackie Rudroff, who survives at their home. Jim was a Senior Attorney for the Missouri Department of Health & Senior Services and an Attorney for the Missouri Department of Social Services. He was a member of the Cathedral of St. Joseph, the Knights of Columbus - Bishop McAuliffe Council #12992 at St. Joseph and Ducks Unlimited. He enjoyed spending time with his family, hunting, fishing, reading and was an avid Kansas City Royals fan. Along with his wife Jackie, Jim is also survived by a son: Michael Thomas McCoy of Jefferson City, Mo.; two step-children, Anna Kilgore and Ian Kilgore of Jefferson City, Mo.; his mother, Mary K. McCoy of Syracuse, Mo.; his mother-in-law, Helen Rudroff of Rich Fountain, Mo.; two siblings, William David McCoy (wife Beth) of Lake Charles, La., Mary Clair Straub of Liberty, Mo.; two nephews, Isaac Straub and Sam Straub; and one niece, Rachael Straub. Jim was preceded in death by his father, Warren William McCoy. Friends will be received from 4-7 p.m., Wednesday, March 4, 2015, at the Houser-Millard Funeral Home, with a prayer service to be held at 3:30 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11 a.m., Thursday, March 5, 2015, at the Cathedral of St. Joseph, with Msgr. Robert A. Kurwicki officiating. Interment will follow in Resurrection Cemetery. Expressions of sympathy may be made to the Helias Foundation.
