James Samuel Dawson, 87, of Eugene, Mo. passed away Monday, July 27, 2015, at his home. He was born October 29, 1927, at the family home in Cole County the son of James Hugo and Anna May (Binkley) Dawson, whom both preceded him in death. He graduated from Eugene High School. James was united in marriage November 20, 1945, in Eugene, Mo., to Pauline Muriel Etter, whom has also preceded him in death. He retired from Missouri State Penitentiary, where he was manager of the furniture factory. James was a member of Eugene Christian Church and also attended Ninth Street Christian Church. He was a member of American Legion and VFW post 2442. He enjoyed family, farming and going to the gambling boat (eating crab legs). He will be sadly missed. Survivors include: one son, Timothy Dale Dawson, Eugene, Mo.; one daughter, Darla Mae (Larry) Rutledge, Eugene, Mo.; one sister, Norma Rosenow, Alma, Kan.; seven grandchildren, Amy (Todd) Rutledge Parker, Aaron (Laura) Rutledge, Corey (Michelle) Dawson, Brandy Williams and Anna Dawson; 15 great-grandchildren; and nine great-great-grandchildren. In addition to his parents and wife, James was preceded in death by: one son, Merle James Dawson; and one sister, Aulma Alberts. Private visitation will be Thursday, July 30, 2015, from 9:00ñ10:00 a.m., at Weber Funeral Home, Russellville, Mo. Graveside service for family and friends will immediately follow at Eugene Cemetery with Minister Chris Reynolds officiating. In lieu of flowers memorials are suggested to Eugene Christian Church, 10606 Tunnel St., Eugene, Mo. 65032 or Ninth Street Christian Church, 1009 McKinley St., Eldon, Mo. 65026.
