Viola Joyce Boan, 89, of Eldon, passed away peacefully on Saturday, July 18, 2015, at her home surrounded by family. She was born on September 17, 1925, in Bagnell, Mo., the daughter of Ernest and Ellen Elizabeth (McGowin) Boots, who preceded her in death. She was united in marriage on March 11, 1947, in Tuscumbia, Mo., to Johnnie Boan, who preceded her in death on January 12, 2002. She attended Eldon Technical School in Eldon. She worked for Hoods as an accountant and manager, FASCO assisting in manufacturing, and in the retail industry for many years. Viola was a member of Mt. Carmel Baptist Church and later became a member of First Baptist Church of Eldon. She was an avid reader, enjoyed jigsaw puzzles and keeping up with family and friends on Facebook. Most of all, she loved her family and visiting friends. She was a dedicated wife and mother and treasured the time that she spent with her family. She is survived by one son: Maborn (Becky) Crawford of Baldwyn, Miss.; three daughters, Joyce (Ted) Meisenheimer of Eugene, June (Chris) Baker of Jefferson City and Marti (David) Robinson of Seattle, Wash.; seven grandchildren, Lisa (Zammone) Laskar, Kristen (Marvin) White, Melissa (Bryan) Jaegers, Emily (Tim) Gholson, Nathan (Katrina) Crawford, Meegan (Adrain) Kirkweg and Ian Robinson; 14 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild. She was also preceded in death by her first husband, William Edward Crawford, who passed away in World War II; one daughter, Margaret (Maggie) Boan on September 30, 2014, and one son, William David Crawford, February 22, 2014. Family will receive friends from 9 -11 a.m. on Tuesday, July 21, 2015, at Millard-Rekus Family Funeral Chapel. Services will be held at 11 a.m. at Millard-Rekus Family Funeral Chapel. Interment will follow at Dooley Cemetery in Eldon. Expressions of sympathy may be made to Hospice Compassus or First Baptist Church of Eldon.
