William E. "Gene" Ash, 77, California, Mo., passed away on Tuesday, January 28, 2015, at the Moniteau Care Center in California, Mo. Gene was born May 26, 1937, in Moniteau Co., to William P. Ash, and Martha Mae Heather, who preceded him in death. He was married on May 25, 1957, to Judy Rohrbach who survives at the home. He was a longtime member of the U.C.C. Church and served on Consistory. Gene worked as a foreman with the Painters Union Local Kansas City, and St. Louis, Massman Construction, and also with MODOT. Gene was a member of the Masonic Lodge 183 of California, Mo., also Charter Member of the California Eagles 4027. He enjoyed traveling, fishing, and being with family and friends. Gene is survived by his wife, Judy; one son: Doug Ash and wife Rita of California, Mo.; one daughter-in-law: Barb Ash of Hillsboro, Ohio.; one granddaughter: Amber Hollis and husband Mike; two great-grandchildren: Trevor and Lauren Hollis of Brighton, Mich. He is preceded in death by two sons: Daryl Ash, and David Ash; one brother: Robert Ash and two sisters: Marjorie Oerly, and Ruth Elliott. Masonic service will be at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, at the United Church of Christ. Visitation will be Saturday, January 31, from 10:30 a.m. - 1:00 p.m. at United Church of Christ in California, Mo. Funeral Services will be Saturday at 1:00 p.m. at the United Church of Christ in California, Mo. with Rev. Andrew Lovins, and Rev. Paul Deutsch officiating. Burial will be at the Evangelical Cemetery California, Mo. Memorials may be made to the United Church of Christ or Ronald McDonald House c/o Bowlin - Cantriel Funeral Services. Funeral services are under the direction of Bowlin - Cantriel Funeral Services.
