Ruby (Moses) Krohn, of Boulder City, Nevada, passed away Tuesday, December 30, 2014. Ruby was born October 21, 1925, in Black, Missouri, the daughter of the late George W. and Bessie Jane Moses. In 1927, a fire in the family home took the lives of three of her siblings Lorene, Noel, and Vernie. Ruby was an infant and carried to safety by her mother. Their uncle rescued her oldest sibling, Lena. Ruby graduated from Lesterville High School in Lesterville, Missouri in 1944. She worked in Jefferson City for Southwestern Bell Phone Company before joining the Marine Corps in 1951. She was one of the first female Marines to be stationed in Europe. After serving three years in the Marines she returned to the states to a job with the phone company in California. She married the love of her life, Carl Krohn, on June 29, 1957, at the Wayfarers Chapel in Rancho Palos Verdes. They settled in Saugus, California. Ruby took a job with the United States Postal Service and delivered mail for many years. Upon her retirement, Ruby volunteered in the Henry May Memorial Hospital gift shop for several years. When Carl retired, they moved to Boulder City and remained there until their deaths. Ruby was preceded in death by her husband, Carl; son, Kelly Christopher; stepson, Michael; sisters, Lorine and Jacque; and brothers, Vernie, Noel, Glen and Bob. She is survived by her daughter, Kimberlee (Andrew) Shaw; stepson, Randy (Vickie) Krohn; grandchildren, Erin Krohn Hoover, Eliot (Colleen) Krohn, Christopher (Erika) Toensing, Megan (Sean) Bentley, and Travis (Sarah) Krohn; great-grandchildren, Susanna, Grant, Sophia, Oliver, Emily, Emilia, Luka, Gabriela, Carter, Cadence, and Cayden; siblings, Lena Branson, Sue (Bob) Kliethermes, Sallie Jacobs, Charles Moses, all of Jefferson City and Donna (Bill) Montgomery of Boulder City and many other family and friends. Memorial services will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday, January 20, at the Southern Nevada Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Boulder City, NV 89005.
