Irene Mary (Haller) Hoffman Laughlin, age 86, of Freeburg, departed this life suddenly on Tuesday, January 6, 2015, at her residence in Freeburg. She was born May 25, 1928, in Osage County, a daughter of Henry Frank and Cunnigunda Marie (Holterman) Haller. She was first united in marriage on March 31, 1951, at Freeburg, to Herman Henry Hoffman, who preceded her in death on April 20, 1981. Irene was later united in marriage on July 3, 1989, at Linn, to John Anthony Laughlin, who also preceded her in death on June 28, 1993. Irene was a member of the Holy Family Catholic Church, Freeburg. She started working in March of 1951 at Quaker Window Products Company where she worked for 42 years, and then continued working at Big Bear's Quick Shop for 12 years, both in Freeburg, prior to her full retirement. Irene enjoyed gardening (especially growing tomatoes), photography, garage sales, reading, and any activity involving her family. Those left to mourn the passing of Irene include: One brother, Albert Haller, Freeburg; special friend, Ron Lane, Freeburg; one step-son, John A. "Tony" Laughlin Jr., Jefferson City; one step-daughter, Bonnie J. Laughlin, Jefferson City; three step-grandchildren; four step-great-grandchildren; several nephews, nieces, great-nephews, great-nieces; and other relatives and friends. In addition to her husbands, she was preceded in death by her father, Henry, on September 13, 1945; her mother, Cunnigunda, on April 17, 1964; two brothers, infant Henry Frank Haller, and Henry "Jim" Haller; and two sisters, Marie Elizabeth Boehmer, and Martha Ann Mengwasser. The Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated for Irene at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, January 10, 2015, in the Holy Family Catholic Church, Freeburg, with the Rev. Nicholas J. Reid as the celebrant. Interment will be in the Holy Family Cemetery, Freeburg, under the direction of the Vienna Chapel of the Birmingham-Martin Funeral Homes. Visitation will be 4-7 p.m., Friday, January 9, 2015, with a Prayer Service at 7 p.m., and 10 - 11 a.m., Saturday, January 10, 2015, all in the Holy Family Catholic Church, Freeburg.
