Nancy Johannah Day

Nancy Johannah Day, 68, of Hartsburg, passed away Thursday, January 1, 2015, at the Neighborhoods in Columbia. Nancy was born April 12, 1946, to Ralph and Naomi Christine Nichols Brenneman in Bloomington, Ill. On June 8, 1968, she married Claude Day in Minier, Ill. and her survives. Nancy was a graduate of the University of Missouri. She worked for many years at University Hospital and the MU Student Health Center where she was a registered medical technologist. She was also a 41 year cancer survivor and for many years, a volunteer with the American Cancer Society. After her family, her greatest joy was music. She was a member of the choir at Peace United Church of Christ in Hartsburg and a 35 year member of the Jefferson City Cantorum. As a member of the Cantorum, she was privileged to perform with the St. Louis Symphony, the Kansas City Symphony and the Cork International Choral Music Festival in Cork, Ireland. She is survived by: one daughter, Jennifer Veltrop of Ashland; granddaughters, Rachel, Madison and Nicole Veltrop of Ashland; a brother Barry (Terri) Brenneman of Flagstaff, Ariz.; a sister, Barbara (William) Henning of Burns Harbor, Ind.; and one great-granddaughter, Sophia Hannon of Ashland. Memorial services will be held on Saturday, January 10, 2015, at 11 a.m., at Peace United Church of Christ in Hartsburg, Mo. In lieu of flowers, the family requests Memorial contributions to the Jefferson City Cantorum, P.O. Box 1632, Jefferson City, MO 65202 or to Peace United Church of Christ, P.O. Box 19, Hartsburg, MO 65039 Arrangements are under the direction of Robinson Funeral Home.
