Robert F. Rackers

Mr. Robert Francis "Bob" Rackers, age 73 years, of Taos, Mo., passed away Friday, December 4, 2015, at his residence with family at his side after a courageous battle with cancer. Bob was born July 28, 1942, in Wardsville, Mo., the son of the late Joseph and Barbara (Taube) Rackers. He was married to Patricia Scheppers in Wardsville, Mo. and later to Debra Hails in Jefferson City, Mo. A lifelong resident of Taos, Mo., Bob attended St. Francis Xavier Grade School. He owned and operated Rackers Used Cars and Body Shop for many years. He was previously employed with St. Mary's Hospital as an X-Ray Technician, McGraw Edison as a Die Cast Operator, DNS Film Company of Germany, and Capital City Ford Dealership as an auto technician until his retirement. Bob built race cars in his free time and loved spending time with his boys at Capital Speedway. He was always eager for a game of pool, especially 8 ball, and he prided himself that not many could compete with him. Bob enjoyed sports, NASCAR, gardening, planting flowers, and in recent years researching family ancestry. Survivors include: two sons, Darrel Rackers and Karla Emerson of Taos, Mo. and Dwayne Rackers and his wife Becky of Taos, Mo.; one-stepdaughter, Cindy Connelly and her husband Ben of Jefferson City, Mo.; four grandchildren, Ciara Rackers of St. James, Mo., Lauren (Rackers) Luebbert and her husband Kyle of Koeltztown, Mo., Kole Rackers of Taos, Mo. and Chace Rackers of Taos, Mo.; three step-grandchildren, Robert Connelly, Aja Connelly and Benjamin Connelly, all of Jefferson City, Mo.; one great-grandchild, Raelynn Rackers of St. James, Mo.; two brothers, John Rackers and his wife Sharon of Taos, Mo. and Anthony Rackers and his wife Kathy of Taos, Mo.; one sister-in-law, Delores Rackers of Taos, Mo.; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother, Joseph W. Rackers. Visitation will be held at the Wardsville Lions Club, 3505 E. Route M, Jefferson City, Missouri 65101 from 4:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. Monday, December 7, 2015. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions are suggested to the Goldsmith Cancer Center, 1432 Southwest Blvd., Jefferson City, Missouri 65109.
