Mamie Ellen Kennish

Mamie Ellen Kennish, 97, of Mound City, Mo., passed away Wednesday, December 2, 2015, at The Oregon Care Center. She was born November 20, 1918 near Lamar, Missouri. Her parents were Ernest and Nora Belle (Stout) Brandon. She and Thomas L. Kennish were united in marriage on January 1, 1942. They celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary on January 1, 1992. Mamie and Tom spent most of their married life farming north of Mound City in the Bellevue Community. She attended Minnesota Valley Methodist Church and later joined the First Presbyterian Church in Mound City. Mamie loved farming with her husband, tending her flowers, serving as a 4-H leader, making wedding cakes for relatives and friends, and cooking for her family. She would often step in to take care of neighbors and relatives when they were sick. Mamie is survived by her son, Thomas W. (Paula) Kennish, Mound City; and Ellen (Charles) Landsbaum, Olathe, Kansas, and grandchildren, Mandi and Holly Landsbaum and Laura and T. Dylan Kennish. She is also survived by her step-sister, Georgia McCoy and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; an infant daughter, Jeanne; her husband, Thomas.; her siblings, Edna Belle Brandon (infant), L.L. Brandon, J.W. (Dick) Brandon, Willard Brandon, and Gladys Osborne. Visitation will be held 5-7 p.m., Sunday, December 6, at the Pettijohn and Crawford Chapel in Mound City, Mo. Services will be held at 10:30 a.m., Monday, December 7, at the Pettijohn and Crawford Chapel in Mound City, Mo. Burial will be in The New Liberty Cemetery, Mound City, Mo. Memorial contributions are suggested to the Mound City High School FFA, 708 Nebraska Street, Mound City, MO 64470.
