Karin L. Gilpin

Mrs. Karin L. Gilpin, age 72 years, of Holts Summit, Mo., died Sunday, August 2, 2015, at her home surrounded by her family. Karin was born October 14, 1942, in Buffalo, N.Y., the daughter of Bernard and Nadean T. Dummermuth Lavallee. She was married on July 2, 1977, in Jefferson City, Mo., to Donald R. Gilpin, who preceded her in death on March 12, 2013 A resident of the central Missouri area for most of her life, Karin was a 1960 graduate of California High School, California, Mo. She was employed as an order clerk with Scholastic, Inc. for 15 years prior to her retirement on November 30, 2011. Previously, she owned and operated a day care center and was employed with Von Hoffmann Press. Karin enjoyed dancing, but most important, she loved spending time with her family. Survivors include: six daughters, Luana Harrison of Columbia, Mo., Andrea Call and her husband Lance of Holts Summit, Mo., Kim Tunis and her husband Dan of Holts Summit, Mo., Stacia Shoults and her husband Brian of Holts Summit, Mo., Alayna Hoffman of Holts Summit, Mo., and Shawna Lenz and her husband Cory of St. Louis, Mo.; two sisters, Judy Coons of Latham, Mo. and Linda Reed of Sedalia, Mo.; 12 grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her mother and her husband. Visitation will be at Freeman Mortuary from 5:00 until 7:00 p.m., Friday, August 7, 2015. Funeral services will be conducted at 10:00 a.m., Saturday, August 8, 2015, in the Freeman Chapel with the Reverend Walter Gilpin officiating. Interment will be at Hawthorn Memorial Gardens.
