Dorothy M. Buschjost

Dorothy M. Buschjost, age 91, of St. Thomas, passed away on Saturday, August 1, 2015, at her daughter's home in Russellville. She was born in Argyle on March 22, 1924, daughter of the late Joseph and Mary (Grant) Schulte. On November 12, 1946, Dorothy married Jerome Christopher Buschjost, who preceded her in death on July 5, 1996. Dorothy attended Argyle schools until the passing of her mother, when she quit high school to care for her siblings. A homemaker all her life, Dorothy established and co-owned B&K Quick Shop in St. Thomas and also Buschjost Trucking and Feed. She was an avid St. Louis Cardinal Baseball fan. She enjoyed playing cards with her family and friends and loved spending time with her children, especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Dorothy was a member of St. Ann's Ladies Sodality, St. Thomas Quilt Club, Over 50 Club, and St. Thomas the Apostle Catholic Church. She is survived by seven children, Mary Alice Cook (Rock) of Henley, Geraldine Rackers (Richard) of Wardsville, Patricia Kliegel (Tom) of St. Thomas, Irma McFadden (Les) of Wardsville, Barbara Campbell (Jim) of Russellville, Arthur Buschjost (Cindy) of St. Thomas, and Arleen Long (Jim) of Fulton; 24 grandchildren; 30 great-grandchildren; one brother, Joe Schulte; one sister, Marie Prater; three sisters-in-law, Ragene Schulte, Mary Jane Schulte, and Rose Mary Buschjost; and many nieces, nephews, family, and friends. She was also preceded in death by two sons, Charles Buschjost on November 21, 1970, and Harold Buschjost on May 9, 2009; one son-in-law, Robert Schulte; one sister, Thrasilla "Patty" Schanzmeyer; and two brothers, Edward Schulte and Clement Schulte. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10 a.m. on Tuesday, August 4, at St. Thomas the Apostle Catholic Church in St. Thomas. Rev. Jeremy Secrist will officiate. Interment will be in St. Thomas Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 5 to 8 p.m., with a prayer service at 4:30 p.m., on Monday, August 3, at St. Thomas the Apostle Catholic Church.
