Stacy Lee Ledin

Stacy Lee Ledin, age 55, of Joplin, was called home to Heaven on Thursday, July 30, 2015, following a long illness. She was home at the time with her husband Maurice at her side. Stacy was born on October 15, 1959, in Garrison, N.D., the daughter of Dennis and Clara (Norquist) Thompson. She attended Garrison High School and graduated in 1981 from the University of North Dakota with a BS in Fashion Merchandising. She married Maurice Ledin on August 15, 1981 in Garrison, N.D. They made their home in Joplin and later moved to Racine, Wis. and then to Jefferson City, Mo. They recently returned to Joplin. Stacy was employed at and did some modeling for Kassab's Department Store and Backstreets Fashions. She also worked as an interior decorator and a substitute teacher. Stacy's greatest title was being mother to her son Trevor, who passed away in June of 1998. In her son's honor, following his accidental death, Stacy lobbied at the state capitol to pass a Bill to protect other families from negligent drivers. She also volunteered as a recovery specialist for Crossroads Recovery Center. Stacy enjoyed reading, walking, gardening, interior decorating, crafts, and spending time with her husband, family, friends, and her two beloved dogs, Zoey and Bella. She will be greatly missed by all who knew her. She is survived by her husband of 34 years, Maurice Ledin, Joplin; her mother, Clara Thompson, Garrison, N.D.; two brothers, Kirby Thompson, Apache Junction, Ariz., and Jordan Thompson, Minot, N.D.; one sister, Lisa Stumvoll and husband David, Coleharbor, N.D.; sister and brothers in-law, Sonja Ledin, Joplin, Marla Ledin, Federal Way, Wash., and Patti and Todd Carlson, Rochester, Minn.; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her son, Trevor Ledin, and her father, Dennis Thompson. Funeral services will be 10:00 a.m. Tuesday at Mason-Woodard Chapel. Reverend Brad Zerkel will officiate. Burial will be in Ozark Memorial Park Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Monday at the mortuary. Memorial contributions may be given to Compassionate Friends, a support group for parents who have lost children, or Faithful Friends Animal Shelter in care of the mortuary. Arrangements are under the direction of Mason-Woodard Mortuary & Crematory.
