Brett Aaron Doolittle, age 34, of Kansas City, Kansas, and previously of Lansing, Kansas, passed away on Wednesday, April 22, 2015. Brett Aaron Doolittle was born on April 25, 1980, in Kansas City, Kansas. He grew up there and in Lansing, Kansas. He was active in the local scouting program and was promoted to Eagle Scout where he received membership in the Order of the Arrow, Tribe of Mic-Osay. As an adult, he continued serving the scouting program as a commissioner of the Heart of America Council Kaw District. On July 25, 2008, he married his high school sweetheart, Lindsey Southard. He was the love of her life. His service to his community continued as an officer in the Kansas City Kansas Police Department, where his work and dedication earned him a promotion to sergeant. He served in that capacity for 15 years. Brett was honored and respected by his peers, superiors, and subordinates. Brett's interests included creative artwork. He was a member of the National Art Honor Society. His real passion, though, was gardening. He could take an ordinary yard and turn it into a beautiful and inspirational place. All plants bloomed under his touch.
