Thomas Jensen

Thomas "Tommy" Jensen, age 83, of Linn, passed away Saturday, April 18, 2015, at Harry S. Truman Veterans Hospital in Columbia. Tommy was born February 5, 1932, in Drexel Hill, Pennsylvania, a son to the late James Peter and Anna Mary (Quinn) Jensen. Tommy served in United States Army from 1950 to 1953 and again in 1957 to 1960. He earned his GED and received a Presidential Citation and a Silver Star. On June 12, 1971, he was united in marriage to Shirley Lea Fritchley in Elko, Nevada. She survives of their home in Linn. Tommy had worked as an over-the-road truck driver and was currently employed at Maple Bluff Farms in Linn. Tommy was of the Baptist Faith and a member of the Linn VFW Post #4756 and Linn Masonic Lodge #326 AF & AM. Tommy was an outgoing people person. He loved to cut-up and tell jokes. Most evenings you would find him sitting on his porch in his rocking chair and smoking his pipe. If he was inside, Tommy was watching FOX News or listening to Blue Grass music. His greatest enjoyment came from spending time with his grandchildren. In addition to his spouse of 43 years, Tommy is survived by: 11 children, Tracy Howell and her husband Tom, Jimmie Gaddis and her husband Rodney, Bryan Wiggins and his wife Patti, all of Linn, Berry Wiggins and his wife Jeanette of Jefferson City, Eric Jensen, Brandi Bridges, John Jensen, all of Linn, Daniel Jensen of Hannibal, James Jensen of Independence, Victoria Jensen of Mason City, Iowa, Valinda Darley of Hannibal; 19 grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by: one daughter, Tammy Gillespie and one grandson, Aaron Kixmueller. Visitation will be held from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday, April 21, 2015, at Morton Chapel in Linn with a Masonic Service at 6:30 p.m. Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, April 22, 2015, at Morton Chapel with Rev. Leo Roberson officiating. Interment with full military honors will follow in the Useful Cemetery near Linn. Expressions of sympathy may be made to the Wounded Warrior Project.
