Robert P. Evans

Robert P. Evans, 79, of California, Mo., and Alcoa, Tenn., passed away peacefully and with family present April 14, 2015. He was born July 15, 1935,in Hays, Kan., to Rufus Evans and Nellie Gosser. He was raised in Hays and after service in the Air Force, moved to Dodge City, Kan., as a young man where he lived until retirement. After retiring early from AT&T he moved to middle Missouri where he enjoyed an active life living in the country. He was married for 58 years to Janis Yvonne. They were an inseparable couple, even, apparently, in death. Dad passed away three years to the day, hour and almost minute from when mom left us. The family is sure he did that on purpose. Per their instructions, Bob and Yvonne's wedding rings, never removed in 58 years of marriage, will be interlocked and put to rest with their ashes, forever linking them together. He is survived by: two sons, Butch and Bill; several grandchildren and great-grandchildren; a brother, Jerry; and sister, Nova. Cremation will be followed by internment at the Evans family headstone at Goshen, Mo., Baptist church cemetery. Donations may be made to the American Cancer Society.
