Gloria June Dewey

Gloria June (Walker) Dewey, 79, of Jefferson City, Mo., passed away peacefully with her family close by on April 15, 2015, at Heisinger Bluffs, Jefferson City, Mo. Gloria was born January 18, 1936, in Hillrose, Colo., daughter of Jake Walker and Anna (Luft) Walker. She was united in marriage on April 1, 1960, in Pacific Grove, Calif., to Rodger Dalton Dewey who survives at the home. Gloria graduated from Hillrose High School in 1954, then moved to Denver, Colo., to work at the Mountain Bell phone company, there she met her sailor, Rodger, through her coworker, Shirley Dewey, Rodger's sister and moved to California. Over the years being a Coast Guardsman's wife and living on the California and Gulf coasts, she became a "professional beachcomber". She walked miles and miles of coastline extending her shell and beach collection. Her passion was golf, with having the claim to a "Hole-in-One" in her life time. She enjoyed knitting, doing crafts, reading books and lots of traveling with Rodger, the girls and great friends. Gloria was a wonderful and loving wife and mother and a great, great friend to the many people she met over the years. Including her husband of 55 years, Gloria is survived by: two children, Lorrie (Jack) Freeman of Jefferson City, Mo., Karin Casper (Jeff) of Arvada, Colo. and honored "adopted" daughter Marcy Helveston (Eric), Broken Arrow, Okla.; Loved and cared for by grandchildren, Gary, Jake, Tara, Victoria, Niklas, Nadja, Garrett and Lauren; and six beautiful great-granddaughters; her sister, Virginia Walker-Burry (Wally), Wheat Ridge, Colo.; and brother, Ed Walker, Capay, Calif.; sister-in-law, Karen Walker, Greely, Colo.; sister-in-law, Shirley Ramsey of Arvada, Colo.; and many very special nieces and nephews. Gloria was preceded in death by: her parents; a brother, Jimmy; her in-laws; brother-in-law, James Ramsey; and a nephew, Shane Walker. Visitation will be 9:30 a.m., Saturday, April 18, 2015, at Heisinger Bluffs Chapel located at. 1002 W. Main St., Jefferson City, Mo. Memorial Services will directly follow at 10:00 a.m., with Rev.
