Grant Wesley Farmer, 36, of Richmond Heights, Mo., passed away Tuesday, April 7, 2015, unexpectedly at his home. Grant graduated from Jefferson City High School in 1997. He received his Bachelor of Science degree in Psychology from Truman State University, Kirksville, in 2001. He received his Masters degree of Public Health in Epidemiology from St. Louis University in 2008 and his Master of Arts in Social Psychology from the University of Connecticut in 2010. He had his PhD in Epidemiology from St. Louis University School of Public Health. He was working on his Post Doc at Washington University at the time of his death. He is survived by his spouse, Daniel Mertens, of the home; his parents, Clyde and Jeannine Farmer, Jefferson City; his brother, Sean Farmer (Jessica), California, and their children Rebekah, Emma, and Connor; his maternal uncle, George Freiner, Jefferson City; and his paternal uncle, Richard (Kay) Farmer, Bloomington, Ill. A memorial service for friends and family will be held Saturday, April 11, 2015, at 11 a.m. at First United Methodist Church, Jefferson City. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions are suggested to the Human Rights Campaign or charity of the donor's choice.
