Ted E. May

Mr. Ted E. May, age 79 years, of Jefferson City, Mo., passed away Thursday, March 27, 2014, at Capital Region Medical Center. He was born on February 23, 1935, in Adair County, Mo., the son of Thomas and Lulah Sevits May. He was married on August 31, 1961, in Kirksville, Mo. to Connie DeCapito who survives at the home. A lifelong resident of Kirksville and Jefferson City, Ted was a 1953 graduate of Kirksville High School and later from Northeast Missouri State Teacher's College. Ted proudly served his country in the United States Army during the Korean War. He was employed in data processing for over 30 years retiring in 1993. Throughout those years, Ted worked with several institutions: MFA Insurance, Northeast Missouri State Teacher's College, Kirksville School System, and retired from the Missouri Department of Corrections. Ted was an avid bike mechanic and loved writing, reading, and computers. Most of all, he cherished time with his family. Survivors include: his wife of nearly 53 years, Connie May; one daughter, Lynn Vossen and her husband Jake of Leawood, Kansas; one brother, Robert May and his wife Sherry of Kirksville, Mo.; one sister, Rowena Pope of Circle Pines, Minnesota; and two grandchildren, Abby and Ben Vossen of Leawood, Kansas. He was preceded in death by his parents, one sister, and six brothers. A private family service will be held at a later date.
