David Landrum Coy

David Landrum Coy, 62, of Jefferson City, passed away Tuesday, March 25, 2014, in Licking Mo. He was born November 17, 1951, in Springfield, Mo., the son of the late Perry Coy and Nina (Landrum) Coy. As a special needs young man, David worked in the sheltered workshop and participated in Special Olympics. He especially enjoyed riding in the car, going to Walmart, swimming and showing off his new haircut. The family especially appreciates the care and love that Melitta Neal and all the staff at T. J. Swifts in Licking gave David over the past nine years while he was a resident there. He is survived by his mother: Nina Coy of Jefferson City; one brother: Dennis Coy (Cari) of Jefferson City; one sister: Eden Davis (Larry) of Bloomington, Illinois; two nieces: Mandy Hoener (Matt) of Jefferson City and Abby Davis of Bloomington, Illinois; one nephew: Drew Davis of Chicago, Illinois and one great-nephew: Brenden Hoener of Jefferson City. He was preceded in death by his father Perry Coy. Graveside services will be held at 1:00 p.m. Sunday, March 30, 2014, at the Hawthorn Memorial Gardens Mausoleum Chapel with Rev. Rob Erickson officiating. Expressions of sympathy may be made to the Special Olympics.
