Bruce Dwight

Bruce Dwight, 85, formerly of Jefferson City, Missouri, died Monday, December 8, 2014, in Colorado Springs, Colorado. He was born to John and Alva Dwight on July 30, 1929, in Calaway County, Missouri. Bruce proudly served his country in the Army for 21 years. He had various overseas assignments as well as two tours in Vietnam. He received many accommodations for his exemplary work throughout his career. He retired as an Instructor with the rank of SFC. A Native of Missouri, Bruce returned to Missouri after he retired. Where he worked as a Corrections officer for the state of Missouri at Jefferson City. Bruce was a member of the Concord Baptist Church in Jefferson City. Two of Bruce's greatest joys were metal detecting which he would find civil war artifacts, old coins, and other treasures as well as making his award winning Wind Chimes made from his own designs. He was preceded in death by his parents and his siblings, Helen (Dwight) Essary, Joe Dwight, Mildred (Dwight) Rice, Della (Dwight) Bryant Reed and Johnny Dwight. Bruce is survived by his daughter and son-in-law, Susan and Wayne Bichel of Monument, Colorado; two grandchildren, Leah and Heath Bichel; and a great-granddaughter, Gabriella Gruenwald all of Colorado. He is also survived by multiple nieces and nephews. Services will be held January 12, 2015, 1 p.m. at Arlington National Cemetery, Arlington, Virginia. Where he will be laid to rest with honor with his fellow soldiers. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Bruce's name to the Alzheimer's Association www.alz.org
