John Irving Riley, 75, of Springfield, Mo., formerly of Jefferson City, passed away Wednesday, December 24, 2014, at Cox South Medical Center in Springfield, Mo. He was born on August 4, 1949, in Callaway County, Mo., the son of Virgil and Florence (Fox) Riley, who preceded him in death. He was united in marriage to Virginia Carey on December 6, 1963, in Howell City, Mo. Virginia preceded him in death on January 11, 2011. John was a graduate of Missouri School for the Deaf. He retired from 3M in Columbia where he worked as a line operator. John loved the outdoors, fishing, hunting and camping. He is survived by: one daughter, Carol (Tyrone) Lewis of Jefferson City; three grandchildren, Eric Campbell, Ryan Campbell and Chad (Keisha) Vaughn; one great-grandchild, Kamani Amore Vaughn; one sister, Betty Kraber of St. Charles; and one brother, Don (Dot) Riley of Fulton. Friends will be received from 2-4 p.m. on Monday, December 29, 2014, at the Houser-Millard Funeral Chapel. Funeral services will follow at 4 p.m. with The Reverend Murl Nash officiating. Interment will be private for the family. Expressions of sympathy may be made to the charity of the donor's choice.
