Derek J. Schrimpf

Derek J. Schrimpf, age 47, of Russellville, Mo., passed away Friday, December 26, 2014, from injuries sustained in an automobile accident. He was born August 17, 1967, in Jefferson City, Mo., the son of Robert L. Schrimpf, who preceded him in death, and Betty (Veltrop) Schrimpf, who survives in Jefferson City. Derek attended St. Peter's Catholic School and Jefferson City High School. He was united in marriage to Madonna Wiseman, his soul mate, on December 18, 1993 in Jefferson City, Mo. To this union two beautiful children were born, Eric, 25, and Kelsey, 18, both of the home. Derek was self-employed as a contractor, he loved working with his hands. He enjoyed pool, and he spent many evenings in pool league with his daughter and friends. He also enjoyed bowling, but his passion was golf. Derek made three holes-in-one and won the Mens' Club Championship at Redfield Golf Course. His footprints will forever be at Redfield. He adored and enjoyed his family, watching movies and hanging out with his family. Most of his friends knew him as DBD. Derek claimed he was not perfect, but he was loved by many and will be greatly missed. His presence will be felt around the pool table and on the golf course. Derek would tell you to enjoy life and live it to the fullest. He loved pranks and laughter. Derek is survived by his loving wife, Madonna, of 21 years; his son, Eric, and daughter, Kelsey. Other survivors include his mother, Betty; three sisters: Anne Schrimpf of Jefferson City, Mo., Cheri Beck, (John Sanning) of Jefferson City, Mo., and Brenda (Mike) Engelbrecht of Russellville, Mo.; one brother, Carl (Candace) Schrimpf of Jefferson City, Mo.; 22 nieces and nephews; and many aunts, uncles, and cousins. Derek was preceded in death by his father, Robert Schrimpf; mother-in-law, Mary Thompson; father-in-law, Cliff Thompson; and his grandparents. Visitation will be held from 9:00 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. on Monday, December 29, 2014 at Weber Funeral Home, Russellville, Mo. Mass of Christian Burial will follow at 12:00 p.m. at St. Michael's Catholic Church in Russellville with Father Greg Meystrik officiating. Burial will be in the Enon Cemetery, Russellville, Mo.
