Nancy Jean Wilson

Nancy Jean Wilson, 74, of Jefferson City, went home to be with her Lord on Wednesday, September 18, 2013, surrounded by her loving family. She was born August 24, 1939, in Jefferson City, Mo. Nancy was united in marriage to Donald Elmer Wilson on May 30, 1957, who survives at their home. A life-long resident of the Jefferson City area, Nancy graduated from Jefferson City High School in 1957. Nancy was a member of Concord Baptist Church. In earlier years, she was a member of Union Hill Baptist Church in Holts Summit, Mo., where she taught Sunday School and Vacation Bible School classes. Raising her children as a stay-at-home Mom, Nancy worked part-time at home for Sherman Kelley and Associates. In 1978, she began a part-time position at Missouri Department of Conservation, retiring in 2002. She enjoyed spending time with her family, visiting residents in assisted living, playing volleyball, bicycling, and taking walks with Don. She was an ardent fan of St. Louis Cardinals baseball. Nancy's passion was raising a close, loving family. Her family members will remember her as a compassionate wife, mother, and grandmother, as well as a friend, supporter, advocate, cheerleader, and counselor. She was a model of Christian faith. Everyone will remember her as generous, caring, cheerful, and positive. In addition to her husband, Don, survivors include three children and their spouses: Sam (Dawn) Wilson, Overland Park, Kan.; Brad (Judy) Wilson, Russellville, Mo.; and Tracy (Bryan) Bax, Jefferson City. Survivors also include six grandchildren, Cole, Adam and Hannah Wilson and Ben, Alex and Nick LeCure; two step-grandchildren, Clayton and Braden Bax; one great-granddaughter, Addison (daughter of Kaelee Brown and Adam); half-sister Linda Kline Taylor-Carter, Edinburg, Texas; step-sister Sylvia Kline Patterson, Jefferson City; and many other loving family members and friends. She was preceded in death by her mother and step-father, Mildred (Becker) Goff and Chester Goff; her father, Clifford Kline; and her half-sister Patricia Kline Crowe. Friends will be received from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. Monday, September 23, 2013, at Houser-Millard Funeral Home followed by a Ceremony of Life Service at 7:00 p.m. with Dr. Monte Shinkle officiating. Interment will be at Hawthorn Memorial Gardens. Memorial contributions are suggested to World Hunger Fund, in care of Concord Baptist Church in Jefferson City, Missouri.
