Donald Clifton "Cliff" Carter Jr., 47, of Versailles, Mo., passed away Monday, September 16, 2013. Cliff was born on December 1, 1965 in Vicenza, Italy, the son of Donald Carter Sr. and Courtney Sinclair Malone. Cliff was born under both Italian and American flags, and lived and worked in various cities throughout Mo., but his heart was centered in Versailles. He was a 1984 graduate of Versailles High School lettering in all sports. He received his Bachelor of Science Degree from Missouri State University. Sports dominated memories of Cliff. He enjoyed playing, coaching, watching, second-guessing, quoting statistics, and arguing sports! He also was an avid reader and listened to his extensive collection of music. However, his greatest love was for his daughter, Rebecca. Cliff is survived by his parents, Donald and Jane Carter of Osage Beach and Courtney and Mike Malone of California, Mo.; one daughter, Rebecca Carter, of New York City; two sisters, Chanin Gellasch (Jim) of St. Louis and Alison Evans (Lenny) of Jefferson City; several nieces and nephews and maternal grandmother, Jean G. Sinclair of California, Mo. He was preceded in death by paternal grandparents, Lloyd and Lucile Carter along with maternal grandfather Col. E.M. Sinclair. Interment will be held at the Versailles City Cemetery, attended by family and officiated by Reverend Dan Adkison of the United Methodist Church of Versailles on Saturday, September 21, 2013. Saturday evening, friends and family will gather at the Old Carter Store Building in downtown Versailles, the with memorial generously coordinated by dear friend Chris Henderson at the Blazing Saddles, the current tenant of the Carter building. In place of flowers and gifts, the family requests that memorials be contributed to Cliff's daughter care of Windmill Ridge Funeral Services, P.O. Box 443, California, Mo. 65018.
