Janet Lea Miller, 53, of Jefferson City, was called home by God to be a Special Angel on Monday, October 14, 2013, at the University Hospital & Clinics in Columbia. Janet was born on December 19, 1959, in Mexico, Mo., to Edward Clark Carver and Doris (Doyle) Carver. She was married to Jim Lee Miller in 1983. Janet was a 1978 graduate of Macon County R-1 in Macon, Mo. She continued her education by obtaining her Associates Degree in Applied Sciences at PPI Health Careers Center in Colorado Springs, Colo. in 1991. She was an employee of Alphapoint, working with Child Support Collections. Previously, she was the manager of The Wildwood Café located inside of the Department of Health & Senior Services. Janet was a member of the Elks, Former Vice President of LBOMB Executive Board. She was an avid Kansas City Chiefs fan. She loved animals, enjoyed bowling, quilting and crocheting. She enjoyed collecting Coca-Cola memorabilia, but most of all enjoyed the time spent with her grandchildren. Janet is survived by her mother, Doris Ellis of Jefferson City; her only child Melinda Thomas-Kwakye of Milwaukee, Wis.; two grandchildren, Tyrese Thomas-Davis and Yaa'Lena Thomas-Kwakye both of Milwaukee, Wis.; two sisters, Karen Sue Baker of Salisbury, and Sonya Chacon of Colorado Springs, Colo; three aunts, Margaret Haley, Dollie Greenwell, Darlene Crutz, one niece and four nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, Jim Lee Miller; her father, Edward Clark Carver; step-father, William Ellis; one sister, Marsha K. Carver; her grandson, Tyrelle Thomas-Davis; grandparents, John and Tena Doyle, and Theodore and Golda Carver. Friends will be received from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. Saturday, October 19, 2013, at the Houser-Millard Funeral Home. Funeral Services will follow at 1:00 p.m. Saturday at the Houser-Millard Funeral Home with Pastor Joe Skiles officiating. Interment will be held in Woodlawn Cemetery in Macon, Mo.
