Roy V. Robertson

Roy V. Robertson, 97, formerly of Jefferson City, passed away Thursday, November 7, 2013, at Galena Stauss Nursing Home, Galena, Illinois. He was born June 5, 1916, in Kirksville, Missouri, son of the late Charles A. and Lela (Wells) Robertson. On December 31, 1941, Roy was united in marriage to Mary Jane Threlkeld in Jefferson City, Missouri. She preceded him in death on May 16, 2001. Roy was employed with the Division of Employment Security for the state of Missouri from 1938-1980, retiring as Assistant Director. He served in the United States Army during World War II from 1942-1946. He was a member of the First Christian Church where he was a deacon and Treasurer for many years. He was also a member of AARP; ARMES; and the American Legion Post 5. Roy is survived by two sons: Roy V. "Vic" Robertson Jr. and his fiancÈe Andrea Grieco of Lake Forest, Illinois; Dr. David Alan Robertson and his spouse, James Baran of Galena, Illinois; one brother: Donald Robertson of Bentonville, Arkansas; and one grandson: Michael Roy Robertson of Chicago, Illinois. Friends will be received from 9:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m., Tuesday, November 12, 2013, at the First Christian Church. Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 a.m., Tuesday, November 12, 2013, at the First Christian Church, with Rev. Don Carter officiating. Entombment will follow in Hawthorn Memorial Gardens Mausoleum. In lieu of flowers, expressions of sympathy may be made to the First Christian Church in Jefferson City.
